Last year his fan video for Grizzly Bears' track Two Weeks turned a lot of heads. Now Gabe has released a new video. See the video and get some behind the scenes info here.

Directed and animated by Gabe Askew.
Additional modeling, shading, and rigging by Austin Hernandez and James Atilano.

We asked Gabe to tell us a little about the process behind the video:
"The lighting solution I used in this piece was a lot different than I usually work. Where as normally I strive to light and material things in a very physically based way, sometimes even modeling light fixtures, this time I worked much looser. Most scenes had a dome light and a couple large plane lights. The lighting through out is very overcast and indirect. There aren't many cases where there are obvious light sources and there is never any sun.

Also, where as normally I try to get things as close to final straight out of the render, this time I applied heavy color correction in post. This is because I was less concerned with creating a strictly photo-real quality and instead trying to achieve a more stylized feel. I avoided depth of field (for the most part) and let the image flatten out. This way the foreground elements tend to sit on top of the drawn backgrounds.

That being said, even though I wasn't aiming for photo-reality, V-Ray's predictable results allowed me to achieve the 70 shots of this piece largely on my own."
