Chaos Group Press Release, May 19th
One of the most popular European events for digital entertainment – FMX, went extremely well for Chaos Group this year. It took place in Stuttgart from 4th to 7th of May. The company attended the exhibition for a second time and organized a number of events with two of its German partners Weltenbauer and Mackevision, so it can present the new additions of its product portfolio. Hundreds of V-Ray partners, customers and fans have visited our workshops to get more information for the long expected V-Ray RT for Maya, the new fluid dynamics system Phoenix and Pdplayer – the sequence player for visualization and review.
Great attention was paid to the new cutting technology development: The V-Ray GPUs solution, which increases the rendering performance in a notable magnitude and therefore reduces production costs and time. It provides 10 to 20 times faster rendering compared to the existing products on CPU. V-Ray GPUs is an impressive GPU accelerated renderer, which offers flawless shading and rendering pipeline. Interactively showing the current work, the users can view and correct the scene so they can see fit in lighting, shading, procedural materials and camera angle and the ActiveShade preview instantly reflects the changes. V-Ray RT GPUs supports distributed rendering across multiple machines in the local network and will have the same interface as the rest of the Chaos Group products.
The visitors at the booth have been able to see presentations of Pdplayer, a professional image sequence player and viewer, created by Asynthetic and distributed by Chaos Group. Pdplayer supports unlimited number of layers, arranged on an infinite workspace. Each layer contains a sequence or a movie clip and is cached independently, and the cache is not destroyed by most changes. This allows for multiple layers to be played simultaneously while applying changes in real time.
One of the most discussed topics on the booth was the release of the new V-Ray RT for Maya, which will officially appear at the end of summer 2010. This solution will enable Autodesk® Maya followers to render large scenes with great complexity. It gives artists fast, efficient and stable rendering tool for their 3D projects, together with the flexibility that the V-Ray interactive renderer has. Chaos Group also presented its newest educational initiative. It will give lecturers the opportunity to include V-Ray in their everyday teaching practice. The students at the same time will be able to experience one of the most powerful and fast rendering engines. The company considers giving scholarships to students for finishing their final projects. An online web based community will be created with an educational portal, available for all registered users with various tutorials and opportunities for test and preview.
