I only get bright dots on my objects with SSS on... any one else have the same problem?
Follow-ups
A: Ok, here goes. Your basic wax teapot in VRay advanced.
Set up the scene (plane, teapot, optional camera). Add an omni light, turn on shadow casting and give it a VRay shadow.
In the render scene window make sure GI is on.
Create the following VRay material for your teapot:
And you should get this:
SSS Teapot
If you want more contol over the scattering you can add a control map in the refract slot. Also, play with the light multiplier value to increase the effect. If the SSS is grainy, increase the number of refract samples.
Download the max file here: SSSteapot.max ~200kb (max4)
Comment: Decided to make some "elipsoid grapes". Bad models I know, but the attention was on the SSS.
Grapes
Comment: I tested your scene and it worked great, Thanks ! The thing i missed was the Gi part , i mixed it up with finalrender..... you don't need gi to get SSS there.
