Topic: HDR reflections
posted by Tony Richardson / Egz / Blindleader
archived on 19.1.2003
I tried to setup an HDR image in the invironment slot in vray but I don't get the reflections of the map on a chrome ball like I should.
Could someone explain the proper setup procedure for HDR lighting. Material type? etc.
Follow-ups
Comment: you need the map in BOTH slots to get illumination and reflections.
Q: If I want another environment besides the hdri, like a sky??
A: Then you put the HDR map in the GI Environment (skylight) slot in the Vray Environment rollout, tick Override Max's, then put your sky image in the Rendering>Environment>Environment Map slot. If you want the sky image to be used for reflections leave the Reflection/Refraction etc environment slot blank. If you want the HDR image to be used for reflections put this in the Reflection/Refraction etc environment slot and tick Override Max's.
