Topic: How to get VRay reflections on a Simbiont material
posted by Metin Seven
archived on 11.8.2003
Each Simbiont material consists of a data text file full of changeable settings to be interpreted by the Simbiont/Darktree engine. One of those settings is the Reflectivity parameter. Load the data file in a text editor and change the Reflectivity value to a value higher than 0. Now you can put your VRay map in the Reflection map slot of the Simbiont material and control the amount of reflection by adjusting the settings within the VRay map.
Some Simbiont materials (shiny surfaces like metals etc.) already have a Reflectivity tweak. In this case you can put a falloff map in the Reflectivity map slot and a VRay map in the Reflection slot. Control the Falloff map to create Fresnel reflections.
Hope this helps to keep using those cool Simbiont materials while rendering with that cool VRay.
Cheers,
